2024 Lac La Biche and District Music Festival concludes with final concert

An evening of music and song wraps up annual Lac La Biche Music Festival

The annual Lac La Biche and District Music Festival concluded with a final community concert that took place on Friday at Aurora Middle School.

The evening of instrumental, music ensemble, vocal, piano and solo performances got underway at 6:30 p.m. with the Vera M. Welsh combined Grade 2/3 choir singing ‘Oh Canada’ in front of the large crowd of family, friends and community members that had gathered inside the Aurora Middle School gymnasium.

Following a week of performances in front of adjudicators that took place at Vera M. Welsh, Aurora, Light of Christ Catholic School and Ecole Plamondon, dozens of local students sang and performed a variety of well-known songs at Friday’s final concert, including “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, “Hallelujah”, along with the musical themes to Spiderman, Star Wars, and the Pink Panther.

Trophies and award bursaries were handed out to the top performers, some of whom will go on to compete at the provincial level festival later this year.

This year, the Lac La Biche and District Music Festival, which has been an annual event for more than four decades, ran from April 11-19.
