The comedy night coming up next weekend is more than just a fun night out — it's also an important fundraiser for the local Gymnastics Society.

Organized and hosted by the Lac La Biche Gymnastics Society, the Saturday, January 26 comedy show at the Bold Center's Devon Room, will raise money to benefit the Gymnastics Society in purchasing new equipment for their Key-Way-Tin gymnasium.

Andrea Ulliac is the president of the Lac La Biche Gymnastics Society and one of the main organizers of the event. The show will feature Yuk Yuk's stand up comics, Dale Ward, Lori Ferguson-Ford, and Kevin McGrath.  Ward and Ferguson-Ford are both Calgary-based standup comedians, whereas McGrath hails from Edmonton.

Ferguson- Ford has been a professional stand-up comic for over 20 years and has been voted B.C.'s Funniest New Comic and B.C.'s Funniest Woman.

Ward is a professional artist and a master electrician — only because he "likes to be called master", he says.  His passion and drive for comedy has led him to winning the 2017 FunnyFest competition, the 2018 Best Comedian for Late Night at The Plaza, and other comedy competitions in Red Deer and Kelowna.

"I would rather trade in my electrical tools for a microphone, as I prefer to follow my dream of being a comedian over making money," he said.

Ward mentioned that it's going to be his first visit to the area.

"I have never been to Lac La Biche yet, and I am very excited."

The Gymnastics Society has been around in the region for four years, and it's their second year of organizing the Yuk Yuk's comedy fundraiser. Last year's event raised around $16,000 for the society which was used to purchase equipment.

Funds raised from this year's event will also go towards buying new equipment for the gymnasium.

"You can never have too much equipment and unfortunately, like any sport, equipment comes with a golden price," said Ulliac.

Anyone  interested in attending the event should hurry, as the last day to purchase tickets is next Thursday, January 24 . The doors to the event open at 6 pm, with dinner starting at 6:30 pm. The show starts at 8 pm.

Thanks to Sponsors

Ulliac also mentions how grateful she is for the support from the community and wants to thank the sponsors that made the event possible.

"Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters. Without you, this would not be possible. A huge thank you to Kingdom Cats for being our major sponsor for the event," stated Ulliac.

Tickets are only $65 and are available at Britton's your Independent Grocers, Plamondon ATB Financial or contact Andrea Ulliac at (780) 307-5459. Tables of eight will have reserved seating.

"Supper and a comedy show will bring you many belly laughs and a great night out," said Ulliac while encouraging locals to come out and to join their event.
