On September 16, Lac La Biche held its annual Terry Fox fundraising event.
Vera M. Welsh Elementary School staff member, Tina Skakun, as well as fellow Northern Lights Public Schools staff April-Dawn Fabbro, Erin Shulko, Alecia Cox, and Nicole Biollo, were the primary organizers of the event this year.
Unfortunately due to the cooler weather coming to the region earlier than normal, the run was held inside at the Bold Center on the Canadian Natural Resources track- but that did not stop the action!
Registration for the event opened at noon, and was greeted with eager participants.
With water coolers filled, and music blasting, the participants walked or ran their 5kms or 10kms.
IGA donated water, as well as donuts for some post-race “pick-me-up.”
In total, there were over 50 participants, and raised $3576.90 for the Terry Fox organization.
“We are just happy to see everyone come out and support the Terry Fox run,” said Skakun.
Aurora Middle School will be holding theirs on September 27.
