Locals in the Lac La Biche region welcomed spring on Saturday, April 6 with an Easter Sale at the Bold Center.

Homes businesses, non-profit organizations and crafters from around the region took part as they set up stalls and displayed different kinds of merchandise in the Bold Center's fieldhouse.

Beverly Tkachuk, was the main organizer of the event and while speaking with the POST, she names some of the vendors at the sale event and mentions how happy she is with the turnout.

"We had a great turnout today. We had over 60 different vendors with home businesses and crafters. We had a few non-profits as well... Lac La Biche Art Club is here with their show and sales, you can purchase some of the locally-made paintings and drawings... It (the event) gives home businesses an opportunity to come out and do it local," Tkachuk said.

This was the eighth year Tkachuk has been organizing the Easter sale along with similar events like the Christmas sale and other fundraisers. The events give local artisans and home-based business operators a chance to get into the spotlight — and to give back to the community.

Each vendor paid $35 for a table, and after accommodation fees and advertising fees, the remainder of the funds are donated to different local organizations, says Tkachuk. This year, she has chosen Ecole Beausejour for the funds to be donated towards.

"Ecole Beausejour wants to get these new water fountains that fills up bottles and the school is little, so they only need  two. I believe they already have one almost paid for... I was like, 'yeah let's get a water fountain,' so it's Ecole Beausejour  this time," said Tkachuk.

At last year's Christmas sale, Tkachuk  donated around $1,500 to the Lac La Biche Skating Club.
