Lac La Biche RCMP: Three men connected to 'chop shop'

RCMP are searching for Derek Gladue who escaped arrest by driving a Cadillac Escalade towards police.

Lac La Biche, Alberta -

On Oct. 16, 2018, Lac La Biche RCMP along with members of Eastern Alberta Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU), Cold Lake Police Dog Services (PDS), RCMP Air Services and Auto Theft Section assisted in the execution of a search warrant at a property in Beaver Lake. Several stolen vehicles were located, as well as two firearms. Two trucks stolen from Bonnyville, a truck and motorcycle stolen from Lac La Biche, and a motorcycle stolen from Fort Saskatchewan were recovered by RCMP.


George Gladue (60) of Beaver Lake was arrested and charged with the following:


· Three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000


· Four counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000


· Altering/ destroying/ removing a vehicle identification number


· Fraudulent concealment

One released with Dec. 3 court date



He was released with court conditions and is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Dec. 3, 2018.

One drives Caddy at police

Another male connected with this incident, who was also wanted on outstanding warrants, was located at a nearby property by EADRCRU. RCMP members attempted to arrest the male, who reportedly drove his vehicle towards an RCMP member, nearly striking him. A short pursuit in the Beaver Lake area took place with the male who was in a white Cadillac Escalade. The pursuit was eventually terminated for public safety.


Following the termination of the pursuit, EADRCRU members located another wanted male hiding at the property in Beaver Lake. Hank Gladue (29) of Beaver Lake was arrested for his outstanding warrants, which included charges of:


· Breaking and entering


· Possession of break in tools


· Possession of property obtained by crime


· Mischief over $5,000


· Disguised with intent to commit an offence

One released with Oct. 29 court date


He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and released after a judicial hearing. He is scheduled to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Oct. 29, 2018


Police seek Derek Gladue



The wanted male from the alleged pursuit has been identified as Derek Gladue (25) of Beaver Lake. He was already wanted for several offences which included breaking and entering and other property crimes and is being sought by RCMP. Another arrest warrant has been issued for him with several offences which include:


· Assault on a police officer with a weapon


· Flight from police


· Dangerous driving


· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000


· Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000


· Altering/ destroying/ removing a vehicle identification number


· Fraudulent concealment


Police are asking the public's assistance in locating Derek Gladue. He should not be approached.
