A 23-yer old man with ties to Nanaimo BC who was wanted in connection to the recent death of a 61-year-old man in Edmonton was found by police in Lac La Biche on Sunday.

Jordan Martin Cushnie was arrested by Lac La Biche RCMP after tips led to a location in Lac La Biche.
Cushnie was wanted in connection with an attack on a 61-year-old man in the Southgate Shopping Centre last Tuesday, April 17. The man died in hospital on Friday. A police report at the time from EPS said the victim had tried to stop an alleged robbery at a mall kiosk. The 61-year-old is alleged to have struggled with a suspect and was thrown into a counter during the fight. The man was rushed to hospital but didn't recover from his injuries.

A province-wide arrest warrant was issued for Cushnie on Saturday for charges of second degree murder, robbery, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break and enter tools. The following day, Edmonton Police Service spokesperson Carolin Maran said a tip from the public helped to locate Cushnie in the Lac La Biche area. Maran could not give an exact location of where Cushnie was located, saying that information had not been provided to her.
The Lac La Biche POST was contacted through social media comments from area residents saying police had a large presence in the Deer Meadows subdivision last night. Lac La Biche RCMP have confirmed that a tip from the public was received at 4:30 pm on Sunday. The tip lead RCMP to a residence in the Deer Meadows subdivision about two kilometres west of the hamlet of Lac La Biche.
"As a result of a tip we were able to take this wanted individual into custody," says Corporal Ronald Bumbry, the Eastern Alberta Media Relations Officer. "We would like to thank the public as this tip ultimately lead to a quick arrest."

Maran says the ongoing investigation is an EPS file and she thanks the Lac La Biche RCMP, media and the public for their assistance.
RCMP and EPS officials say no further information on the case will be disclosed.

Cushnie was transported to Edmonton early Monday morning and is now in EPS custody.
