Carmen Semeniuk has been announced as the new principal at the Light of Christ Catholic School.

Semenuik was previously the vice principal of the school. The decision was made as the current Principal Aurele Malo is retiring this year.

"I am super excited to continue being a part of our Light of Christ team in a new capacity as Principal, and working with the amazing staff that we have in continuing to make education our focus. Christ our model, children our focus. That is our goal and our mission, and help lead, help teachers develop  and students learn," said Semeniuk.

The school staff is currently interviewing for the Vice Principal position, and according to Semeniuk that announcement will be made in early June.

Open school

School officials also organized an open house on Thursday, May 23. The event was aimed at attracting the interest of parents in the community who have a child or children entering preschool or kindergarten in the upcoming year. School staff provided parents and children with tours, information, and hot dogs along with different programming options available within the school.

"The open house is for kindergarten and pre-school, highlighting the programs that we offer for early intervention. We are also available to answer any questions or give tours to our school in general. So, we have invited families within our community to come and see what we have to offer and how we can benefit our students' development and learning," said Semeniuk at the school's open house event.
