If cats could speak they would say Thank You

A kitty named Dot is enjoying the views with the new window perches along with her other friends at the Lac La Biche Humane Society. The perches being built through a  great community effort, says shelter coordinator Dezerae Moldowan.

"They (the perches) were made by the Industrial Arts students at Aurora (Middle School) and it was a project that their teacher coordinated. The students built them and it was donated to us. The raw materials were supplied by Venture Home Hardware. The chairperson's (MJ Seibold) son came and installed them all for us... it's a great community effort..."

Several other community members donated time and effort to the window perch project, including shelter volunteer Kim Hughes and her husband who purchased the stain for the ledges.

"The cats are really enjoying them especially now that the birds are coming out (with the warmer weather), they enjoy watching them," said Moldowan.  "Often, in the afternoons when they have their naps, they just lay up in their and enjoy the sunshine too..."

The project was a unique way that the community could contribute and support the shelter, which relies heavily on community donations.

"Any kinds of donation helps our animals and our rescues so much. It's a huge help so a big thank you. If they  could speak, the cats would say thank you for helping us to be comfortable," said Moldowan.
