The Lac La Biche POST needs a reporter. It’s a busy newsroom, a busy community with lots of opportunity for advancement and … Meh!

This sounds like all the rest of the “Journalist Required” ads.

What’s reallydifferent about this job? What won’t you find anywhere else?

How about the chance to shoot a re-curve bow at a 3-D moose while getting lessons from one of the best archery judges in the world at his home course? Or you could interview a 70-year-old artist who spent three years painting and hanging out as part of the Indian Group of 7 in 1970s Winnipeg (crazy-fun perspective on life with that subject matter)? Put on a jersey and helmet and climb into a sledge hockey rig and play with Team Canada’s national Paralympic team? Climb a forestry lookout tower for an interview? Fly in a ‘bird dog’ spotter airplane and watch as water bombers attack a forest fire? Eat ‘natural’ foods while interviewing a world-renowned chef filming an episode of the globally-viewed Cook-It-Raw program? Interview Canada’s senior men’s curling World Champion? Talk to Team Canada Olympic hockey athlete about his hometown? Oh! How about fly in a helicopter with the side doors off while you’re standing on the skids taking pictures? Race in an ice racing car on a 1.3 kilometre track on a frozen lake?

Those are the highlights of an average six or seven months.

Of course, there’s also the ‘bread& butter’ essential of ladies quilting workshops, town council meetings, court reports and spot news fire calls at 2 am.

The Lac La Biche POST newsroom.

Why here? Are you kidding me!!! If you want to be a journalist, why aren’t you here already?

We’ll consider all candidates. Maybe you’re working in another newsroom. Perhaps you are curious about a new career path. Did you just graduate?
