In conjunction with the 2019 World Archery 3D Championships, the Lac La Biche Agricultural Society and Lac La Biche County are hosting a free admission rodeo night.

Stocked by the Billy McDonald Rodeo Company, Friday night's Roughstock Rodeo will be the the final rodeo of the McDonald Summer Series Rodeo Tour.

It might also be the first rodeo for some of the 200 athletes and their travelling groups coming to Lac La Biche for the international archery shoot.

"We want to showcase our community and give our international countries a taste of our western lifestyle," sad Lac La Biche Agricultural Society member Aurel Langevin.

The rodeo is open to all community members attend, and Langevin hopes it will be a continuation of the hospitality that the athletes have received all week long.

"It's for everyone, with our primary target being our athletes, their families and their team supports," said Langevin, who sees the entire week of activities in and around the community as investments in the area's future. "When they go back to their home countries, we are hoping they will be our ambassadors."

Lac La Biche County councillor Colin Cote says it's not just the out-of-country visitors who will be affected by the week's hospitality and Friday night's rodeo.

"There's a lot of judges and volunteers from right here in Alberta that have come up.  We have people from Red Deer and Lethbridge ... Perhaps some of these people have never much ventured north of Edmonton for travel, so this is a great thing," he said.

Lac La Biche County council has agreed to fund $8,000 of the rodeo's $14,000 costs for the night.

Friday night's rodeo is slated to start at 7 pm. at the Lac La Biche Agricultural Grounds.  Admission is free. There are plans for 50/50 and raffle draws.
