The Lac La Biche Junior B Clippers hosted the Frog Lake T-Birds for their last home game of the Northeast Alberta Junior B regular season at the Bold Center's Performance Arena on Friday, February 8.

The battle between the league's second place  team and second last team ended with the Clippers holding firm to their second place league standings, taking the T-birds on an 11-5 ride. But the following day's ride to Wainwright to play the top spot Bisons in the final game of the regular season wasn't as smooth for the Lac La Biche squad, as mechanical issues with the Clippers' bus forced the game to be postponed.

The league has yet to post a re-scheduled date for the final game of the regular season before playoffs begin.

The Bisons and Clippers are separated by just two points at the top of the league. A Clippers win in the final game would tie the two teams. If that happens, a goal differential — total goals scored for minus total goals scored against — would determine the top team.  Currently, the Clippers have scored 219 goals this season, compared to the Bisons' 211. However, the Clippers have had 117 goals scored on them, while the Bisons have let in just 61 goals all season.

Junior B Clippers head coach, Stan Houle saw Friday's home game  as more of a friendly, and looks forward to the upcoming game against the Bisons, whenever it is re-scheduled..

"No one wants to get hurt before play-offs so, this was kind of friendly game," said Houle, adding that his team was looking forward to Saturday's planned game in Wainwright, after a lob-sided 13-2 blowout the Clippers dropped to Wainwright when they last met on January 5. "The boys are looking for a little bit of revenge. They are going to have to go hard and I am gonna make them and we will see where we stand after that."

Houle knows the goal differential make it highly unlikely his team will wrap up the regular season in top spot, but says his young squad won't let up.

"We can tie for first. If we beat them, we can tie with them and then it will be goal difference. We would have to blow them out, if we want to be first by goal difference though. We will see how it goes with our current bench," said Houle.
