A partnering initiative between some local artisans, student, s business and an animal shelter is hoped to give cats a better view of the world.

The Lac La Biche Humane Society has recently added ‘window boxes’ to their interior décor, allowing cats to jump from the floor and look out the window.   Without the specially crafted ledges, cats at the local shelter were unable to find a perch to look out of the windows.

“it is a nice little story about how a community came together to make the shelter cats life a bit more comfortable,” said shelter volunteer Kimberly Hughes.

Humane society officials came up with the idea, the local Home Hardware store provided the lumber, the industrial arts teacher at Lac La Biche’s Aurora Middle School designed the shelves and her Youth Achievement Program (YAP) students made the shelves. Hughes and her husband provided the stain for the wood.
