Smoke from wildfires outside the area blanketed the Lindbergh valley on Saturday as 16 wagons, ranging in size from a full sized Conestoga covered wagon to a one-horse cart, headed west on the Iron Horse Trail.

Boyle RCMP say they have charged two men, one from Plamondon, in connection to an arrest made last Wednesday - May 8.

Another Alberta NDP leadership hopeful has dropped out of the race.

On May 2, Grade 9 students from the St. Paul Education region learned about the consequences of impaired driving through a day-long event held at the St. Paul Recreation Centre. 

"We don't have a homeless problem - we have addictions and mental health issues," says Cold Lake John Howard Society representative.

A special air quality statement has changed and no longer includes much of the Lakeland region.

While the air quality in the Lakeland region remained in the "low risk" category throughout the day on Sunday, a special air quality statement had been released by Environment Canada, warning residents of wildfire smoke that would be moving into the area.

Despite gloomy clouds and constant rainfall on May 7, the mood was celebratory as the MD of Bonnyville celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Cherry Grove Fire Hall and Grader Shop, marking a milestone for the community's safety and development.
