Lac La Biche RCMP have arrested the mother of the man they claim murdered Michael Mountain last fall.
RCMP were called to the sound of gunfire at Mountain’s Lac La Biche home at around 4 a.m. Oct. 28. When they arrived, they found Mountain suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Mountain was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A Canada-wide arrest warrant was issued Nov. 7, 2017 for Lloyd Wesley Boudreau, who is wanted for first-degree murder, evading police and disposing of physical evidence of a crime.
On March 18, the RCMP issued a release stating they had also arrested 53-year-old Margaret Simon for being an accessory to murder.
It is alleged Simon, who is Boudreau’s mother, assisted her son with evading police and disposing of physical evidence of the crime.
She was set to appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on Monday, March 19. Details of her first appearance are not available due to publication deadlines.
Boudreau was last reported to be in the company of Mandi Leigh Boucher, 25, of the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement.
She was reported missing to the Boyle RCMP detachment on the same day that Mountain’s body was discovered in Lac La Biche.
Investigators have been following up on tips that Boudreau and Boucher may have been seen in the areas of Lac La Biche, St. Paul, Boyle, Camrose, Edmonton and Kamloops, B.C.
Boudreau is a Métis man who is 5’6 in height and weighs approximately 188 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and tattoos on his neck and the side of his face.
Boucher is a 25-year-old Métis woman who is approximately 5’1 in height and 150 pounds in weight. She has brown hair and green eyes.
