The people who sit in the chambers in this building will be the focus of a great deal of attention in the lead-up to Oct. 16's election.

The Lac La Biche County communications department has released a full set of information as well as a final list of candidates for this year's election on Oct. 16.
The County confirmed that there will be six polling stations in the county: the Craigend Community Centre, the Devon Room at the Bold Centre in Lac La Biche, the Plamondon Festival Centre, the Owl River Community Centre and the Hylo Community Centre. Voters must go to the station that's relevant to them and whichever ward they're eligible to vote for.
Voters must also produce one piece of ID that confirms their place of residence as well as fulfil the other criteria to be eligible to vote.
The candidates will also have two forum debates at McGrane Theatre on Oct. 4 and 5, both starting 6 p.m. The forums are a regular event at election times, hosted by the Lac La Biche POST and the Lac La Biche & District Chamber of Commerce. The Oct. 4 forum will feature council candidates from Wards 1 to 4 and mayoral candidates Gail Broadbent-Ludwig and incumbent Mayor Omer Moghrabi. The Oct. 5 forum will feature the mayoral candidates again as well as council hopefuls from Wards 6 and 7. Both forums are open to the public and will feature a question and answer period from the crowd to the candidates. "It's generally a good show," says POST Publisher Rob McKinley. "With so many candidates this election — 31 for nine seats — we had to make two nights. It will be a good way for voters to hear the candidates and at the very least, put a face to the name."
Charlyn Moore has already taken Ward 5 by acclamation.
The polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m on Election Day. The winners will be sworn in at 10 a.m. on Oct. 24, at the same time as a session of council is to take place.
