Lac La Biche-area search and rescue personnel (Little Divide Search & Rescue) are currently helping in the search for a missing boater on Gregoire Lake.
According to Wood Buffalo RCMP, on July 23, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police were called to a possible drowning on the lake in the Gregoire Lake Provincial Park, approximately 225 kilometres north of Lac La Biche.
A 35-year-old male was canoeing when it tipped over.
RCMP with Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers started rescue efforts on the lake that day, but the male was not located. A canoe believed to belong to the man was located.
Three days later, the search continues utilizing several boats and search and rescue teams from Fort McMurray and Lac La Biche, and Fire and Rescue from Anzac.
CLOSED — The Southshore Boat Launch and Day Use area remain closed to the public. Further updates will be provided when available.
